Every book read makes something good happen at CAIS.
Dear CAIS Family,
READATHON 2018 is an annual, community based event currently in its 18th year. Our main objective is to highlight and promote:
- Literacy: students read books with their classes, classmates, parents, and on their own, and achieve goals to receive prizes for participation or excellence
- Community building: classes cooperate and compete in a variety of activities, such as book character dress up day, donating used books to the Social Justice Club book drive, and buddy reading with younger students within the school.
The selected theme for this year is “The Reading Tree.” READATHON will start on the 7th of February and will run until the 12th of March 2018 for grades 4-12. Further details about the program will be shared with students shortly. Every student is encouraged to read for no less than 30 minutes a day, and students may accumulate Accelerated Reader points by reading books and answering questions in AR quizzes. These points are used for individual and class targets. Additionally, if a student achieves 100% on a FICTION AR quiz or passes a NON-FICTION AR quiz, he or she will be entered into the daily special draw.
The last day to tally your efforts for prizes is Wednesday the 12th of March, 2018. More details to follow.
Thank you in advance for helping your child participate in the 2018 READATHON.
Sincerely,
The Readathon Committee
