CAIS Summer Library Newsletter
“Sora” – from OverDrive
OverDrive is one of the electronic book reading platforms that CAIS subscribes to. It can be accessed through the school’s library website using your Lionsden account, and now they provide a mobile application, “Sora”, for students to use with their mobile devices.
Once you have installed the app, you can find CAIS and then sign in and have access to our OverDrive collections. CAIS library is going to enlarge its OverDrive collection. We have invited our students in different grades to suggest more items to be bought for OverDrive and Sora.
Sora can also provide a linkage function to the Hong Kong Public Library allowing users to directly borrow titles under the digital collections of the Hong Kong Public Library that are supported by Sora.
Please go to soraapp.com to have a trial of Sora. You can enter our school’s setup code “christianallhk” to search for CAIS, or find CAIS in the school list.
Here is a guide for you to get start with Sora: Sora-getting-started-guide

What we have been learning in the library lately
As we head into the last term of this school year, high school students are learning more about preventing plagiarism by using proper citations and are made aware of similarity checking software to check whether a passage is similar to other published works.
Primary students learn about Internet safety, including the concept of cyberbullying, in order to raise their awareness of unhealthy behaviours which may occur on the Internet. Besides that, lower primary students have been revisiting the library book classification systems, and upper primary students were introduced to touch typing skills.
Book Exhibition
Starting in May, our library has set up the book exhibition on the theme of Arts and Recreation, to display various topics of books, like music, sports, fashion and photography. By reading books under these topics, students may pursue their personal interests or even develop them further during their summer vacation.
2019 Summer Reading BINGO
Summer vacation is coming, and primary students are encouraged to do the Summer Reading logs during their summer break. Students can hand in their logs to the library teacher after the summer break. Prizes will be awarded to those who have completed their summer reading challenge. The Summer Reading BINGO sheet will be distributed to students during their library classes in June.
