Readathon is in full swing, and Preparatory-Grade 3 students have kicked off their participation this week. Some of the highlights and events happening around school are:
Book Buddies:
Last week, high school and upper primary students partnered up lower primary students to do some buddy reading. This was a great event to bring together our older and younger students, and we hope to continue to build our student relationships, as well as continue buddy reading!
Prep-G.12 Readathon Book Fair:
This week we had a very successful book fair, with three book vendors setting up in the library. With our new spacious library, we were able to facilitate a bigger event than ever before, and our students responded enthusiastically and found lots of new books to read!
Prep-G.3 Readathon:
Running from March 5th-23rd, our youngest four grades are joining forces with the older students in this annual literary challenge. Continuing with this year’s theme of “The Reading Tree,” our young readers will have heaps of fun activities, including a book fair, author visit, dress-up day, mystery readers, a reading marathon, and much more! Parents, please help your children track how many minutes they read each day on the Readathon calendar.
Dress-Up Days:
Our grades 4-6 classes participated in book-themed class dress up on Tuesday, March 6th, the prep-grade 3 classes have their individual book character dress-up day on Friday, March 9th, and high school students will wrap-up the last day of Readathon on Monday, March 12th with class dress up day. We will soon share photos of all the fun and funny students and teachers in book-themed costumes!
Readathon Wrap-Up:
Grades 4-12 will finish Readathon on Monday, March 12th, and students should all remember to turn in their fundraising envelopes on that day. Thank you to all of the students working hard towards both our reading and fundraising challenges!
