Welcome to the Winter Primary Library Newsletter!
Starting in November, we have had a few parents coming in everyday during lunchtime to help reshelve books and lend a helping hand to our librarians. Shelving is an endless task which takes care and time. We would just like to extend an enormous, “Thank you!” to you parents who come and help with this.
What we have been learning in the library lately
During library lessons this term, the students have been learning and putting into practice the Inquiry Model.
The Inquiry Model acts as a guide to finding and sharing answers to questions students may ask. It is a skill that should serve the students not only during their time at school but also transferrable to life after school and into adulthood. It is a way of approaching a question to systematically and effectively find answers and solutions.

The Aunty Peach Show
In December, the Grades 1 – 6 students enjoyed the Aunty Peach Show performance which came to our school. It was an interactive one hour show calling upon audience participation, full of laughter and magic while at the same time introducing the students to authors, rhymes and tips on public speaking.
The performance was based on the well-known story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, with a twist that only Roald Dahl could devise. It was taken from the book, “Revolting Rhymes.”
The story was narrated by Aunty Peach while our students supplied the acting and sound effects!
It was a fun-filled introduction to using expression and props in public speaking, and it can be said that all the students enjoyed the show.
